Luknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday afternoon said that it has given permission to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and three others to visit Lakhimpur Kheri.
Additional Chief Secretary, Information, Navneet Sehgal confirmed the news to PTI news agency and said that permission has been given to five leaders of Congress, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, to visit Lakhimpur.
Earlier, UP government has denied permission to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and his accompanying Congress leaders to go to Sitapur or Lakhimpur as his visit might disturb law and order situation in the area.
Gandhi has announced that he will try to visit Lakhimpur Kheri with two CMs today to meet families of victims. If the Union Minister’s son has not been arrested today, Congress will carry out march and coerce ruling BJP government to take action into this heinous crime,” he said.
