Washington: In an important decision today, the US President Joe Biden administration announced an automatic extension of work permits issued to certain categories of immigrants by one-and-a-half years. Thousands of NRIs will benefit from this major announcement made by the Department of Homeland Security today.
It also includes spouses of H-1B visa holders seeking green cards in the US who get employment authorisation cards (AAD). Now, those whose permit has expired i.e. upto 4th May, will automatically extend the period to 540 days by automatically granting extension up to 180 days.
