US President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris lead US in condolences over Morbi bridge collapse

Washington: US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris expressed deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in a bridge collapse in Gujarat’s Morbi town.

“Our thoughts are with India,” Biden said in a statement.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US was deeply saddened by the bridge collapse in Morby. “We express our deepest condolences to the victims and their families. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said it was saddened by the news of the collapse of a cable bridge in Morbi, Gujarat, on Sunday. “Our thoughts are with the victims of this terrible tragedy and their families. The over a century-old bridge was reopened to the public five days ago after extensive repairs and renovations. However, the bridge collapsed on Sunday evening and more than 134 people have died in the accident so far.
