US revokes Afghanistan’s status as major non-NATO ally

Washington: More than a year after Kabul’s government fell to the Taliban, US President Joe Biden has revoked Afghanistan’s status as a major non-NATO ally.

In 2012, the US granted this status to Afghanistan through which the defense and economic relations between the two countries were maintained.

According to the US State Department, the US now has 18 major non-NATO cooperation.
