Washington: The US is planning to resume the process of renewing the validity of domestic visa revalidation on pilot bases such as H-1B and L-1 visas by the end of the year.
The move will benefit hundreds of foreign tech personnel, especially thousands of people in India.
Until 2004, certain categories of non-immigrant visas, especially H-1B, could be renewed in the US. After this, foreign technical employees had to leave the country to stamp the H-1B extension on their passports.
Most of these workers have to go to their country and get stamped.
When this pilot project is fully implemented, professional employees will be able to get their visas renewed in the US itself.
Foreign workers have to wait for 800 days or more than two years to renew or issue visas, which causes inconvenience to them.
The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows foreign workers to work in US companies.
