Chandigarh: A purported video of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Baljinder Kaur being slapped by her husband has surfaced on social media. In the video, shot on July 10, a two-time MLA from Talwandi Sabo, can be heard arguing with her husband Sukhraj Singh. In the video, Singh is suddenly seen slapping Kaur after getting angry over a dispute.
It is shown in the video that some people standing near the couple intervene and push Singh. Kaur could not be reached for comment. No complaint has been lodged by AAP MLA.
Meanwhile, Punjab State Commission for Women chairperson Manisha Gulati said that she has seen the video and will take suo motu cognizance of the incident.
Kaur married Singh, the convener of AAP’s youth wing for Majha region, in February 2019.
She did his M.Phil from Panjab University, Patiala in the year 2009. Before joining politics, she was a professor of English at Mata Gujri College in Fatehgarh Sahib.
