UP elections: Voting underway in 57 seats in 6th phase, 36% voting till 1 pm

New Delhi: In Uttar Pradesh, polling is being held today in 57 seats across 10 districts for the sixth phase of elections.

In this phase, 2.15 crore voters will decide the fate of 276 candidates, including CM Adityanath Yogi.

Election Commission officials said that voting began at 7:00 a.m. and will continue until 6:00 p.m. Necessary arrangements have been made to conduct the polling in a free, fair, transparent manner.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Jagat Prakash Nadda and several star campaigners have campaigned in the sixth phase of assembly segments. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s constituency Gorakhpur, who is contesting the assembly elections for the first time in the same phase, will also go to the polls where several candidates, including Subhwati Shukla from samajwadi party and Chandrashekhar Azad, president of Azad Samaj Party, are also in the fray.
