‘Wasn’t a plan at all, police plan to clear protest’ says Trudeau at the federal inquiry

Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau appeared before the commission to testify in an ongoing public investigation into the imposition of the Emergency Act to stop protests by Freedom Convoy.

Trudeau said that this unprecedented decision to shut down the “Freedom Convoy” protests was not planned and Ottawa police was planning to clear the protest.

The public order emergency commission’s hearing lasted for six weeks and Trudeau will be the last person to testify in the case. Seven Liberal ministers have appeared in the ongoing hearing of the imposition of an emergency act to end protests by members of the Freedom Convoy at downtown Ottawa and several other border crossings.

According to the testimony given by these ministers so far, the imposition of the Emergency Act on February 14 was necessary because Canada’s security, economy and international reputation were at stake.

Trudeau was questioned about what kind of legal advice his cabinet received about the threat to Canada’s security.
