New Delhi: The monsoon session of Parliament was adjourned sine die four days ahead of its scheduled time. Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned sine die on Monday. This is the seventh time that both Houses of Parliament have been adjourned ahead of schedule.
According to sources, most of the legislative agenda has been completed this time.
Apart from this, two days of the remaining five days of this week are holidays. Today i.e. On Tuesday, August 9, Muharram is. So at the same time, Rakshabandhan is on August 11.
Parliament has to be closed for these two days. In such a situation, MPs want to return to their constituencies on this occasion of the festival. According to the government, the members’ demand for shortening the session was agreed upon after the legislative agenda was completed.
The House lasted only one week out of 4 weeks.
However, only one of the four weeks functioned smoothly. The first two weeks were washed out due to the opposition’s uproar demanding a discussion on the issue of inflation and unemployment.
Before adjourning the House, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said the Lok Sabha met for 16 days and passed seven laws. In the Rajya Sabha, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu said that the Upper House functioned for 38 hours and more than 47 hours were lost.
