Wrestlers continue to protest against WFI president, says ‘Our fight with federation, not with the government’

New Delhi: Wrestlers have reached Jantar Mantar for the third day against Wrestling Federation of India president and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Meanwhile, the players are held a press conference at Jantar Mantar and said that If we are fighting for the country, then we can also fight for our rights. No party man is supporting us. Our only demand is that the federation should be dissolved.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the country’s legendary wrestlers sat on a sit-in at Jantar Mantar. The president of the wrestling federation has been accused of sexual harassment and harassment of players.

On Thursday, a meeting was also held between the ministry officials and wrestlers on the call of the Sports Ministry, but it was reminded inconclusive. After the afternoon meeting, the players met Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and attended the meeting held at Thakur’s residence.

Earlier, Sports Minister Anurag Thakur spoke to reporters in Chandigarh and said that the allegations are serious. The Sports Ministry has written a letter to the Wrestling Federation seeking a reply within 72 hours.

Vinesh Phogat, the first Indian woman wrestler to win gold in both the Commonwealth and Asian Games, told the media that the government should intervene and appoint former wrestlers in the wrestling federation.

Wrestling Federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh denied the allegations. “The allegation of sexual harassment is a very big allegation. If this turns out to be true, he is ready to bed hanged.”

Brij Bhushan Sharan also said that none of the players who are protesting can win the Olympics, that is why they are angry.

Reacting to Singh’s reaction to the allegations, veteran wrestler Ravi Dahiya said Brij Bhushan Sharan was said that they have proofs that 6 such girls have been sexually abused.

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has demanded the appointment of former wrestlers in various positions in the Wrestling Federation of India.
