45 arrested in communal violence case; normalcy restored: Police

Patna: As many as 45 people have been arrested so far in connection with the communal violence that broke out during a procession on the occasion of Ram Navami in Bihar’s Sasaram and Bihar Sharif on Thursday, the state police chief gave this information in a statement issued today.

The statement read, “normalcy has been restored” in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif. But senior officials are camping in the affected areas and deployment of security forces in large numbers has been maintained.

According to the statement, 18 people were arrested in connection with the violence and arson at Sasaram, the district office of Rohtas. While 27 people have been arrested in connection with the violence in Bihar Sharif.
