Mastermind of attack on Punjab Police’s intelligence wing headquarters arrested by Delhi Police

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested two suspected militants, including the wanted accused in the May 9 RPG attack on the Intelligence Headquarters of Punjab Police in Mohali.

The second accused was arrested on August 4 from Haryana in connection with the recovery of explosive material and has been identified as Arshdeep Singh, the sources said.

The accused in the May 9 attack is a resident of UP and is said to be the mastermind of the attack. The accused has been arrested from Mohali. He is accused of helping terrorists.

When contacted, Mohali SSP Viveksheel Soni said they did not have any information about it. They have also received this information from the media.

The Punjab Police has already admitted that the blast at the headquarters of the intelligence wing was carried out by a nexus of Babbar Khalsa and gangsters. Pakistan’s ISI is also behind this incident. So far, Baljinder Singh Rambo of Patti (Tarn Taran), Jagdeep Singh Kang, Kanwarjit Singh alias Kanwal Bath of Gummtala (Amritsar), Baljit Kaur alias Sukhi of Kot Khalsa (Amritsar), Anantdeep Sonu of Amritsar, Nishan Singh and his son-in-law Sonu have been arrested in this case.

Nishan Singh has become the main source of the police in solving the case. The conspiracy to carry out the incident was hatched by Canada-based Lakhbir Singh Landa and Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda.

A few days before the attack, Nishan Singh was provided with explosive material by two or three unidentified persons in Tarn Taran.

He had sheltered the rest of the accused, including Chahat Singh, Baljit Kaur and Kanwar Bath, in his house and was later lodged at the designated locations. They stayed in Amritsar and Tarn Taran area till May 7 and after that the two accused stayed with Jagdeep Kang, a resident of Wave Heights Society in Sector-85, Mohali, and Kang and Charat Singh had done a recce of the headquarters of the intelligence wing for two days and the crime was carried out on the night of May 9.
