Punjab government sends report to Centre, initiates action against officials

Chandigarh: The Punjab government is now preparing to take action regarding the security lapse case during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab. Now an interim report has been sent to the Central Government by the Punjab Government.

It has been written that on the basis of the report of the committee constituted by the Supreme Court, the process of action against nine officers has initiated. But so far the charge sheet has not been filed against the responsible officials and CM Bhagwant Mann’s approval is awaited.

During the Punjab visit, a 5-member committee was formed led by retired Justice Indu Malhotra to investigate the security lapse case of PM Modi.

After six months of investigation, retired Justice Indu Malhotra’s team submitted a report blaming the then Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari, Police Chief S Chattopadhyay and other top officials for the lapse in pm Modi’s security. On the basis of this report, the central government had instructed to take action against these officers.

On Sunday, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla spoke to Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua and sought a report on the action taken against the officer responsible.

He also expressed displeasure with the Punjab government over the delay in action. After this, the government is now preparing to take action against the responsible officers.
