Tata Sierra to compete with Mahindra Scorpio N in electric and petrol versions

New Delhi: Tata showcased its new SUV Sierra at the Auto Expo 2023. This car can come in the market by the year 2025. This car will be placed on top of the Safari SUV in the company’s portfolio. This car will compete with Mahindra Scorpio-N in the country. However, Tata has not disclosed its features.

The Sierra Electric will get a bigger battery pack than the Tata Nexon EV Max, which gives an ARAI certified range of 437 km with a battery pack of 40.5kWh. The electric motor produces 143bhp and 250Nm of torque.

Tata Sierra Petrol

The Tata Sierra petrol version is expected to come with a new turbocharged gasoline engine. It will come with 1.2L, 3-cylinder and 1.5L, 4-cylinder petrol engines that are capable of delivering outputs of 125PS/225 Nm and 170PS/280Nm respectively. The first engine is used with Tata Nexon, while the second engine is used in Tata Harrier and Safari.

Design

Talking about design and styling, the Tata Sierra Petrol will be slightly different from its electric version. Its production ready model can be similar to the model introduced at the Auto Expo. The Sierra EV will get a new faux grille, sporty front bumper, sleek headlamps attached to the chrome strip, dual-tone wheels, black-out C and a large glasshouse with D pillars.

Mahindra Scorpio N to compete with

The 2.2-litre diesel engine can generate two power-tuning 132PS/300Nm and 175PS with outputs of 370Nm and 400Nm. It is also powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that can produce 203PS of power and 370Nm of torque or 380Nm. Both these engines are available with the option of 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
